Depends on your definition of stock? other than the stereo and LED lights My bike has been in same forum since march of 1980 when the paint was done.... that's about as stock as a fella can get I would think. But I'm not the one asking the questions
carry on with your investigation Sir.... Sounds like your trying to stir someone up?!

1979 XS1100SF "Old Man" bought by my Dad brand new in 79, customized in 80 with Vetter, Standard tank, and touring seat. I inherited in 02 when Dad passed. Been riding it since 09. No resto, bike is a survivor...
2007 RoadStar 1700 Midnight Silverado "The Black Pearl" Cobra Slash-downs, K&N filter. More mods to come
Yes Terry, you are going to stir something up i am afraid, but that may not be all a bad thing. It may bring up new ideas. How does the bike run with all you have done to it? Have to collect that beer this summer.
Butchered...Modified = Potato.."Pototo". All a matter of opinion and we know how some of them stink.
My first XS11SH was stock as stock could be with the exception that the grips were replaced. Badges were painted gold as the gold chrome had flaked off.
This one, is close but no where near the most or the least stock. Now, should I happen to find one with a seat and or tank that is past all hope, I am sure I will tempted to build something less stock or traditional.
Since I have the entire rear suspension minus the shocks, and most of the electrical to make a running bike. As wella s the drive train minus the engine. I think if I could find a titled frame and engine, I would have a good start to a new project.

Well, my XS11SG has got all Yamaha parts on it from some year or model.
Except for the exhaust pipe extensions from Canadian Tire and the 1960s Triumph mufflers.
And the homebuilt luggage rack.
And the parts I made myself to hold the sidecar on.
Oh yeah, the chair is a hybrid too.
Body & frame is Spirit of America "American Spirit"
Sidecar wheel, hub & brake from an early Honda Civic.
Handbrake lever & cable from a Toyota.
Sidecar brake hydraulics from an XS650 rear brake.
Mounting hardware from Fred's garage.
I do not think I have a single stock exhaust, and several have had the fuse blocks fall apart, but I do have at least one E and an SG that are pretty close. The seat on my 79 special is that silly king and queen "banana" seat that reminds me that the 70's was a different era, so even though I have a replacement I have never convinced myself to leave it on the bike. In this discussion is the 81 venturer stock or modified??
The 78E that cranks the most miles has been modified/improved to run big miles: Tkat brace, geezer reg/rect, SS brake hoses, LED and HID lights, auto cam chain tensioner, venturer tubless rims and slotted rotors, pacifico fairing, topcat fuseblock, progressive suspension, lockhart oil cooler, engine guards and highway pegs, 5 gallon aux fuel cell. Every change on this 78 could be reversed on a busy saturday afternoon, with the exception of the exhaust, but I never changed that one.
"Stock" is nearly impossible on a bike that is 30+ years old. Most everything on my bike is stock, however, not for MY bike.
The frame, electrical system (including the fuse box),rotors, tank (which will soon be changed) and the front fender are the only things on my bike that were originally on it when I got it.
The engine is a 79F,exhaust is a Mac 4 into 2, front forks and tripple tree is 81SH, rear fender, tailight and seat are 79SF, Handle bars are 80 850 special (I'm one of those idiots that prefers the buckhorns), Final drive is from an 80 850, wheels have been swapped around so much I've forgotten, speedo (140mph) is from an older 750.
However, it does "look" stock except the exhaust.

80 SG Ol' Okie;79 engine & carbs w/pods, 45 pilots, 140 mains, Custom Mac 4 into 2 exhaust, ACCT,XS850 final drive,110/90/19 front tire,TKat fork brace, XS750 140 MPH speedometer, Vetter IV fairing, aftermarket hard bags and trunk, LG high back seat, XJ rear shocks.
Indeed my bike isnt 100% stock either...the original exhaust headers were totally rusted thru many yrs ago... took out the orig. airbox for cone filters... and rejetted carbs and a YICS eliminator permanently installed... and just recently I added a 139db Stebel Nautilus dual air horn...but other than that its still very close to stock.
I bought my first 11 in September of '77. Full dress model, and it was stock for about 5K miles..... Except for a museum, I don't think ANY rider has left his bike "stock"! We all change something on the bike so it will fit us, and I think that is the nature of the beast.
As far as those who have chopped frames, bobbed or hung a sidehack on the bikes, it's still for their taste, and it IS their bike! With few exceptions I've enjoyed looking at the mods people on this site have done because I know there really are no "STOCK" bikes outside a museum.
As long as the owners and riders can keep a machine on the road, and enjoy the ride, who cares??? JMHO

2009 Suzuki V Strom 650,Adventure in Touring,I call her "Smooth" SW Motech engine guard,Coocase top case w/ LED brake and tail lights,20" MRA touring screen w/adjusable bracket,Grip heaters, fender ex-tender,Givi hard sidebags
Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread.I really enjoyed reading about your bikes.I think machines that the owner makes a few tweaks and changes to suit them, causes the bike to take on a personality of its own.I think that's why some name their bikes.IMHO Terry
