  • How about ya music knowledge

This is about as OFF topic as ya get huh?
Who knows the Band and or Song title to these lyrics.
(come on all you 70s era guys)

We can never go back to the garden of eden,
Adam and eve have sinned, we caint go back again
    Oh,no ,no ,no
She was sixteen and I was twenty five,
And for the first time in my life I really felt alive!
I never cease to be amazed at the amount of general knowledge on this site, so lets see who among you is the music guru

My brother and I have been trying to sort it out for a couple of weeks now,,,,Heeeelp!

Thanks for havin a shot at it Scoobes, but no! checked those out and it aint it....sigh!!!!
It was a popular song way back in the early 70s I think?
But it is amazing how with all the power of the net both my brother and I keep coming up blank on it.

But I have faith in the power of collective minds, someone knows this song and furthermore knows who sang it! we just have to find them

        Hey Man

You're expecting guys in their 40's to remember something from the 70's, when we can hardly remember what we had for lunch yesterday. That's asking too much from the few working brain cells we have left I have a hard time remembering where my bike keys are.

Are those the only lyrics you remember?

Was it more rock or a ballad?

                G'day again guys,

Yep I spose it could have only been a hit in Oz, but I just dont think so!
It was a rock style ballad, you would liken it to a Donovan styled
presentation.....similar to the song Hurdy Gurdy Man.
And it was about that era!

Donovan, Bob Dylan, Scott Mckenzie etc, etc

add to the other verse :

But we never should have done what we done, when we came across the room in the town

Eve was there beside him and she shot him down (gunshot sound)

We can never go back to the garden of eden etc!

Just did a search on the MSN, Entertainment, Music, under song titles, for Garden of Eden.

Found a group called the "New Riders of the Purple Sage", 70 circa group, sounded familiar. I tried to listen to it, they only played a 30 second clip, from the middle of the song, something about looking at the last golden eagle, etc.!!??

Search (Garden of Eden) also gets Paula Cole, Guns n Roses, a couple others but none of the lyrics match those posted. Beginning to think it might have been a local hit?

I'm thinking it was a local hit - a hit on some of that good stuff getting past the coastal patrols....

The way this is going I may need me some o that!!!!!!!!!
I am sure it was an overseas act that did it but as I say, we have exhausted nearly everything else and thought the Net would be a sure fire way of finding it.....wrong

It amazes me that I even remember this thing being played and being popular at parties and such!!!!
But alziemers comes to some early I guess cause thats ALL I remember.

Still we will soldier on and hope that it clicks with someone and all will be revealed!!!!!!!!!!!!

                        Thanks to those trying

Well I have a daughter who sings in the opera, one who sings popular and church music, one plays just about any instrument, son-in-law with an enormous collection of music from 50's to present and plays guitar, LOTS of music in my family, and none of them recognize the lyrics. Yet.

Maybe a little regression therapy would jog the memory? Do now what you were doing then, when you heard those lyrics....

                              Me, I wouldn't know a G cleff from a G string...
