Looks like saddlebags drooped down on them OR some passenger rested their heels on them and that was the end result...
I had a set of Jardine 180 degree tuned back in the early 80s on my 79 SF with the turn-out muffs that sure sounded sweeeet..
The kinda sound you could listen to all day and half the night...
Everytime I got on the bike and started it, it was like music to my ears...
NOTHING in the world compares to a finely tuned in-line four winding-out thru all the gears....
Back then I drove a crude oil transport outta Sterling City Tejas and I rode my 79 SF practically everyday thru-out the year for about 4 years. Talk about a rush...getting out of a Mack truck after 12 hours of hauling crude and being able to climb on that sweet sounding, fine running machine was like NIRVANA...Kept me grinning until 85 when I bought the 2nd V Max to hit Midland/Odessa and like they say...the rest is history...Last edited by tv5150; 01-22-2012, 03:59 PM.Current Rides:

Addenum to the previous post, ran outta time to get this pic posted.
It is a pic of a 11X14 I have matted and framed of my then new 85 V Max
taken in APR 85 My then GF's Father owned an upholstery shop and she went down
and cut out a sheepskin pad for the driver's seat (she even finished it with edgeing
and grommet holes to secure it to the bike) AND I still have for sentimental reasons???
