  • Color wise

What do you guys think of this gold color wise for the 81LH wheels. Hopefully it will show decent on these pics. I think it is a fair match but I am a bit color blind as well. Tried two with flash and two without. Hopefully it shows nicely.

The gold looks good, I'm more intrigued by your 'black' fork sliders showing up as dark purple....

There is no more Yamaha Black on this bike. All of the black parts were beyond bringing back. The Purple color is a Black/cherry color Dodge had way back in about 84 or so. It is the same color as my other bikes as I had some left over. Think I am out of it now but "Hey" I do know the paint code...lol.

Nice gold wheels. They're going to be a good combination with the purple color.

Looks good! Hard to really tell without another Midnight wheel for comparison... so seems to be close enough.

Both the Black Cherry/purple and the Gold are paint. The Black Cherry Pearl Met is Dupont base coat color from a 1988 Dodge. The Gold is called Mars gold from a newer suzuki vehicle. Both have been clear coated and an additive has been used to give the clear some ability to flex. I don't know much about the additive but it was explained to me that it kind of rubberizes the clear so it can take much more abuse before chipping. I hope it works!

If you get a chance... could you post a couple of pics of the black cherry color?

My bike is going to need some new clothes pretty soon (eventually... after a few thousand 'need to dos' get done) and that looks pretty close to what I'm looking for...

Looking forward to seeing this bike put together!

Well Wildkat I will post these of the smaller parts that I have on the table. It is in the garage with both flourescent and incandesent lights as well as a flash. I hope they show what you are looking for. Sunlight best highlights the mettallic as well as the color but at 4:30 this afternoon the sun went and hid and I could not convince it to put in overtime. Hopefully the different angles etc of the smaller parts will reflect the color adequately. The bigger parts like tank, bags, fenders etc are also done but do to lack of room in a very messy garage they will not be appearing tonight.

The good news is that I am finally out of that color except for a very small amount of touch up paint. The 82XJ is pretty close to that color too. The next couple I get back on the road will just be back to black. I better not say that too loud as those two bikes are just outside in the shed.
