newbie ? about icons

I'm not very computer literate. Some folks have icons to the left of their messages with photos of their bikes or other stuff. How did they put them there?

I know I read something about it here on the forum, but now I can't find it.

Search for "avatar".

It's in your profile. Just upload ay pic that's small enough.
