OK I finally decided to fool around with pictures on here.
So, this is a test run.
Should come up with a picture of my old 58 Harley. You,ll see why I say they copied it for the much later Heritage HD.

Being a 58, is it hard to maintain, a lot of upkeep?

Not any worse than the XSs

It really was not bad to maintain.

It has a 1983 shovelhead engine. That was the final year b4 Hd started the evolution engine. So, it was as developed as far as a shovelhead could go.
58s were supposed to be panhead engines. This 1 had a blown panhead when I got it cheap, & a friend had a newly rebuilt shovelhead for cheap $, so, you know the rest of the story.
This bike gets a lot of favorable comments. Most people can't believe it's over 50 years old.

          a little more trivia

The 58 has very few parts that haven't been replaced/
All fenders & tanks (yea, they have 2 tanks L&R).
Big assed disc setup on frnt. They had drums in 58. still has drum on rear.
Onthe right side is the old kicker, although this has electric start.
Mostly swap meet stuff. I did this bike b4 we had EBAY!
So, it did not cost a lot to have a pretty cool HD.

And that boys and girls is why Harley's are so popular; an easy swap of a 25 years newer motor. Could just as easily put in a even newer EVO motor...

              Panhead..

I was stationed on an aircraft carrier in the Navy... In 1974 we sailed out of Norfolk for 7 month cruise to the Med. I was working night shift in the support equipment shop off the hanger bay and a fellow mech said he had something to show me... Followed him up to his rack and in his clothes locker he had his panhead engine stuffed in there. I have no clue how he got it in there or where he stowed his clothes! Over the following months he dismantled, cleaned, polished, etc, every part of that motor. When he talked about cruising down the highway on those warm Texas nights - got me started into bikes. When we got back to the states he somehow got it off the ship and back between his knees... Passion is infectious no matter what you ride.

                Hd

That is a beautiful bike Tom Don't let it get out, but I love the HD's also. Way better chrome and hard parts then Jap bikes. Hd never tried to be the drag strip crotch rocket the Jap bikes have They just look great, and chicks love em (that might have more to do with the constent vibrating thing) they are what they are, and we all love em for that

Pretty sure you're right about the good vibrations. Hey we should write a song about that!

Lon: Got the package today. No problem. Thanks again
