  • Wow, what a year...

I've been absent from these pages for far too long. The pneumonia earlier in the year didn't help. The Doc says I'm all better but my energy level is still low. On top of all that, business has been way up. We've been running a waiting list on most parts all year and what I've found amazing is that my customers for the most part were willing to wait. I hate being behind so I didn't take too many days off until hunting season then I probably took too many off at least considering how bad I did at deer hunting....

The latest news is we are looking to relocate to a small former logging town about 30 miles from the Oregon coast. It will give me more than twice the working space I have now and I'm hoping that being in a depressed area, finding a good employee won't be so hard. The down side is if I pull this off, I will have to sell all my bikes and my parts stash.

I'm not sure if it will be worth the effort to install the quad piston calipers or the hydraulic clutch conversion on my 79 XS11 standard before I sell it. Anyway watch for a bunch of my XS11 stuff to come up for sale in the next few months...

Welcome back, Tony, I was wondering where you'd gone. I'm glad to see you're still breathing! Good luck relocating, too!

Thanx guys... I'm going to miss my XS11 but I didn't even bother to renew the license this year. By the time I was feeling well enough to ride, the season was pretty much over.

A friend of mine needs to unload a rat R5 350 and I may get it as a project bike. At least it's small and doesn't take up too much space...

It's Willamina, Oregon not that anyone here has ever heard of it... If all goes well, I'll be getting a house on a double lot with room to build a killer shop as funds allow...

Once again if I get it, I'll be eBaying all my spare parts and I have a bunch...

              good luck!

Sounds like you are pretty excited about this, so I wish you the best with it. Sad to hear the you will give up ownership of an XS, but your upgrade to the electrical system should qualify you as a member for life

I'm 1/3 Oregonian, as you may know

spent 20 of 66 years there in Eugene form '66 to '84. Friends tell me I had a real good time. I still can't count!
I'm re-building my '79 Special this winter.. Big bore jugs and heads, high compression ported heads, racing pistons, rebuilt tranny, ect.
If you don't sell all your parts I may need some.
Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
                  I've been riding since 1959.

Yes! Even without an XS you can always remain former VP of Cedar mill Oregon XS11 owners associatiion. It takes time for anyone to rebuild stamina after serious illness. Keep getting stronger. Careful...too long without riding might make you crazy.

I've looked at the Google pic many times...

I drew in the property lines in red but I think I trimmed them a bit too close. I'm pretty sure from where the ratty yard ends and the nicer yards of the surrounding proprieties where one takes up and the others leave off.

Anyway a lot of the details are still up in the air.
