Welcome to the REAL WORLD of ownership. Don't worry though, you will get through it. Just think of all the money you are saving on income taxes with the write-off on the interest!Ray Matteis

BTDT... Two weeks after we moved in and were about to celebrate, the transite waste line gave up the ghost. Spent the next three days busting up the patio and digging through the hard pan. Too broke to have it done. Felt like we were tent camping!!
It's all part of those wonderful memories that you will look back on and HATE.RIP Whiskers (Shop Boss) 25+yrs

Ah yes, the joys of ownership.....
It'll get better. Yes, you'll have those 'unexpected' costs from time to time, but at some point you'll actually own the place and you'll heave a big sigh of relief when that house payment goes away (yeah, it's in the distant future, but it'll come faster than you think..) and you suddenly have an extra chunk of money every month. In the meantime, if there's something you need fixed or want changed, there's no song-and-dance from a landlord about getting it done (or rent increases when/if). Look at the bright side; you're getting some of the biggies out of the way early....Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

"show me what to do"
That's the money saver right there!
Fixin up the place here we wanted tile instead of formica counters. Went to a "smaller" tile shop. The OWNER spent about 45 minutes explaining the do's and dont's and all of the other things that take some time to learn. Then he sent me home with an open bag of mortar and double handfull of tile spacers.
I was just shopping for tile. Needless to say I have spent my money for all my tile jobs in his shop! One of the nicest people we delt with while fixing up the house.
It looks like you found the same sort of guy. Except he carries a pipe wrench.RIP Whiskers (Shop Boss) 25+yrs
