Funny. Yamaha's website part catalog is where I originally found the info on the oddity of the G's carbs. Yet, I just went back to look, and they no longer show that there was a G that year, just and SG and an LG...? Found it on BB though and confirmed what I remembered from way back when I first had a look over some G carbs. The jet size listed is form the mains are 120/115. It also lists for a screw cap cover on the 42.5 pilot. It's hard to believe that the 120/115 would be enough to feed both circuits. So, if you have the weirdo year carbs, you should have four holes in the intake bells/no vent tubes, push-in float valve seats, could be either type of floats, and the drilled passage connecting the main and pilot jet towers.
HERE is a link to the BB page that Yamaha no longer lists. The LG and SG are also shown to have the pilot plug screw, but show plastic floats.
