I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself to the forum and also thank XS11Lover for all his insight on helping me get my own Cafe XS1100 project started. He shared a few tips and tricks and it has really made this project much less of an 'Easter Egg / Wheres Waldo' type of endeavor.
Don't get me wrong, I now own enough taillights for two additional bikes and a set handlebars that would look better on a kids bicycle. Trial and error for sure, but Garrett had certainly helped me with the big issues.
I look forward to sharing the before and after pics as soon as I get her presentable. Fighting the last of a nasty flu but I couldn't stay out of the garage for a few hours today:
- Installed rebuilt carbs and carb holders with clear fuel lines- Check
- Started mocking up the 'cafe seat'- Check
- Realized my stock rear fender wont cut it - Check
- Started the bike for the first time with the Carbs and pods- Check (OMG!)
- Realized after stating the bike that I was probably running on 3 cylinders for the last year, bike actually sounds pretty mean. -Check
- My Wife came out to tell me to get back in the house and said the bike is too loud- Check/perfect
- Dirty look from grumpy neighbor = Confirmation I'm on the right track with the build- Check
