On one of my rare visits to the site of the disenchanted my attention was drawn to a thread, apparently started by a Kiwi, where some very disparaging remarks have been made about the US. In that thread there is an inference made that I may be the person responsible for those comments.

I wish to state here that I am in no way associated with that person and am extremely embarrased to be thought that I may be. The views expressed in that thread are not a general reflection of the Kiwi opinion of the US held in this country, and I seriously doubt that the poster is in fact a true Kiwi.

I am glad to hear that you and the person mentioned are not related. While we may not agree on all things, I frankly never thought of you as that far out in left field (I know there are some who do but that's their thing not mine, there's a REASON I have my title over there just as there a reason Greg has his (that's for you Greg)).

          Hi Brian,
no, it's that other bloke from Invercargill.
But still, he has the same rights as you or I to express a political opinion on the other site.
Although what I reckon is, he mostly does his US condemnation shtick to wind Greg up.

Not sure of his reasons Fred and nor do i care. The only thing I care about is making it clear that the views expressed are NOT representative of the typical Kiwi. We are proud of who we are, he is NOT one of us.

Then that should be expressed there and not here. This site has nothing to do with that site, so if you have something to say to people over there then you should say it over there.

Don't want to hear about it here.

Forumer is changing servers. Don't know how long it will take.

Harry and Ivan are thinking about setting up our own server but that means we will be starting all over. We could save some of the tech stuff but all the other stuff would be gone.

Why would I say it over there? I'm not a member over there, and have no intentions of becoming one. But when someone drags your name into the mud on a site you dont care about, that may reflect badly on a site you do care about, then wouldnt you want to do the same thing? Or is that flawed logic? Isnt to me.

If i did have any inclination to join the other side it would be soley to point out that the incredibly disparaging and down right insulting comments about New Zealand from some of the members in that thread are simply untrue and uncalled for, but we are a quiet, dignified nation of people (well, most of us are) and take those sorts of things with a grain of salt, often pitying the individuals that feel the need to react that way. However, that in no way excuses the actions of the original poster.

Oh, and BTW. Sorry for posting this in the wrong section. I thought I was in the members lounge when i posted my original statement. Please feel free to move it to the appropriate section.
