Saw it on the news this morning. That had to suck being trapped under the car hot exhaust and all.

Pretty cool what those people did.

WOW, that is some pretty cool stuff. It is surprising what people will do for someone in those situations. Not that mine was nearly as bad, but I can tell you, you definitely appreciate what someone does to help you.

That story even made it to our local 10 o'clock news last night here in St. Louis! They used it as the "cliffhanger" story, all the way at the end. Scary stuff though. My in-laws (they live in the Salt Lake valley) told us last night that he had been moved to his own room in the hospital, so I assume that means he's getting a little better.

From experience I can tell yout hat when your in ICU they basically still think you might have complications and die. The last day ro so I was in ICU I felt pretty much like I was fine and just needed time to heal. I was on the phone with someone while the nurse was in the room and told the friend "I'm out of the woods". The nurse immediately said, "If you were out of the woods, you would not be in here."

So moving to a standard room is a good sign that they do not think your going to die anymore. So now they can kill you with crappy care and even worse food.

Yeah, It's great that the bystanders just didn't Stand By, but actually got involved. I can't remember the social psychology terminology for the "group" apathy that can occur in a crowd..something anonymity that relieves the members of the group from feelings of responsibility because NO one does anything!

I read the news article, if you noticed the rider after he was pulled out from under the car...NO HELMET or protective gear, was only 21 years old, probably an inexperienced rider, his description of what he did...that he saw what was happening and so he "Laid it down" to try to avoid hitting the car? Apparently didn't have a good front brake, or didn't take an MSF course to know how to perform an emergency evasion maneuver?

What I'm doing is another Soc. Psych. process of attibuting the blame/resonsibility for something bad that happened to someone as "their" fault, whereas when something good happens to folks, we often say it was "LUCK" or fortune...some external source, and not necessarily due to a person's own actions....like working hard or such!

Just glad he was given the chance to survive, hopefully he'll re-evaluate his riding skills and technique?
