The inline 6 cylinder on my truck has a 1 barrel carb. Runners are not the same length. The truck has run fine for 43 years.

      somebody try it

All this techno,,,,,maybe someone can get ahold of the manifold already made,,,,the turbo one, and just mount a carb and see what happens. I dont think anyone wants perfection yet,,,just see how it does with one carb and another manifold to eliminate the multiple carb setup. Like Pat said,,,,many engines run this way,,,its not like we are running 8000 rpm's all the time. Anyone want to donate a turbo manifold or similiar and I will try it out with some various carbs,,,,,it would be cool to experiment. Reminds me of the thread I started way back about making the Yics eliminator and one of the members got serious and made a good one from the thread,,,now us YICS folks are happy and have less maintenance. One decent carb setup instead of four would obviously less to go wrong...........Mike in Hot SUn DIego this weekend

I think all the thought going into this thread is because of all of the fine tuning needed to get the carbs on these bikes to work well. Maybe it will be a simple as Pat says, and all this brainpower and fretting will be for nought. Still, its fun!

One of the UK lads over here has done the single carb mod, I can't find the youtube clip but heres one of a CB750 with the mod. The Uk XS1100 mod has the carb in the centre instead of the side.

Hope I did not get too brainy on this thread because believe me, I am not a brain. I am just one of those guys that if I find a shiny penny I think, how can I make it shinier.

Everyone is right in that any motor will run with any setup. I look at it as there is a difference between run and RUN. I like my lawn mower to run but I like my XS to RUN. I guess if one desires a simple tuning situation a single carb will acomplish that.
