It is a interesting bike it would be nice know if it always idles at 2000 RPM and whether they somehow reduced the compression ratio in order to offset the boost from the turbo. I just wonder how much additional load it puts on crank and bearings. It would definitely save you the aggravation of having to sync the carbs.Comment

they somehow reduced the compression ratio in order to offset the boost from the turbo.//// not necessary as it IS low enough for that set-up or RC Engineering set-up.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.Comment

I was told that an xs11 can't do more than 135mph because of the way it is geared and the drive shaft setup, even if you put a 1200 setup or a turbo on it, it will still max out the same. Any thoughts on that subject??? That's what I noticed on the super xs that I had. It still was at redline at about 135mph, it just got there faster.....It would go faster if you took it above the red line but that is just crazy, right? Yeah, I saw this listed too....
To answer the 'top speed' question, yes, you'll still be limited to about 135 mph unless you exceed the factory redline (now here's a bike crying for a FD swap! If one would take the power...). If you wanted to try for another 1000 rpm, that would be worth about 15 more mph...
The high idle caught my eye too, as well as the fact it's rather lumpy. Makes me wonder if the cams are stock, or if that's a byproduct of the rather crude-looking 'log' intake manifold. Hard telling what tuning compromises were made to allow that much boost, but once it spools up I'm sure it's a blast!Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

This is a bike that begs to have the gears under cut. I wonder if it's been done? One would want to be very careful with that 1st to 2nd gear shift. It's a bike that deserves to be preserved, like a Yenko Camaro, or a Shelby Mustang. All I can say is way cool!2016 Yamaha FJR1300A
