  • Which Mikes XS Fuel Petcocks For 80SG

Which of Mikes XS non vac petcocks will bolt right up to the fuel tank of the 80SG?
I just spent a few hours routing and sorting out the fuel lines on that thing and it looks like a carb cleaning / rebuild is in order. Petcocks leak as well so I'll just switch them out unless I have some spares here which I doubt.
Note: the guy at Yamaha who came up with the fuel supply system on the specials should be put out of everyones misery so he can't design anything else.

I don't believe they have any that of then will work, they are all the spacing of the standard, not the special. AFAIK, the 11 special is close to unique in the spacing and size of it's petcocks, so you would need to get kits from I believe partsnmore which I believe has pingle petcocks and adapters that fit the specials. It might be easier to just put rebuilt kits into the stock petcocks which are really for the most part just manual petcocks anyways.

I am thinking that the fuel supply that is the prime supply is the problem. It by-passes the vac requirement and the vac system on this bike is working. I may just connect the prime nipples together in a closed loop from one to the other which will simplify things a fair amount. I can always fill the carb bowls by applying a vac pump to the vac hose when needed.

It is a single rubber disc inside the petcocks so if it is leaking in one position it is going to start leaking in other positions soon enough, just buy the petcock rebuild kit and be done with it. No sense buying whole new petcocks. If you want manual petcocks then just plug the front prime port on each petcock and just run the fuel line from the rear port straight to the carbs.
