  • D-Day

Just spending a moment to think about those involved in the D-Day invasion on this day in 1944 and what that must have been like.

Thanks to all our armed forces for keeping the torch of Liberty lit.

I'm really excited to see someone else remembered D-Day!...I'm curious as to how many people don't know what D-Day was, and if they do, i wonder how many actually remembered!...Semper Fi John!

Yes I remembered. I always thank the WWII vets for the world ( both while they were in the service and after they got out. ) I was aloud to grow up in.
My wife and I are planing a trip to Paris in 2012. I plan on spending at least a day in Normandy visiting the cemeteries. My way of paying an homage to those guys is I want to go to Omaha beach down at the waters edge and look back at the sea wall and really see how far these guys had to go without cover. Just from the photos I've seen it's chilling. Being a former Marine there are places in the Pacific that I'd like to visit but, I probably won't be able to.

I have a friend who was there...I don't even ask him... What a memory to have to carry around.
        Bless them all.

Lift a glass for all of them, gone and those still here. I plan to.

By today the allies had landed more than 300,000 troops and Omaha had cost more than 5,000 U.S. solldiers.

One of those 5000 was a friend of a that friend of mine. The reason he will not talk about that day.
