    Anybody have to wear nitro patches? Just wanting to know if the headaches go away eventually or if i have to put up with it every day. Hope not to wear them to long though.

    How long have you been using them?

    Most people seem to get the headaches at first but they do eventually go away as people get used to them. Usually between a week and a month depending on the person.

      I've been using them for about 8 months , minimal headache for me not noticeable now, just remember to take them off at night they work better and give you a bit of a rest , I wouldn't worry about it, the alternative is not as nice

        you get used to them

        I dont wear them but as a nurse have dealt with many patients who do. It seems your body eventually normalizes the process.

        It helps to keep the schedule consistent. Not to overlap patching, and use your OTC acetaminophen or NSAIDS according to your Provider's recommendations (preferably in lower dosages).

        Its the immediate dilation of vessels from the new application that seems to make it hurt more - if you keep to the schedule your blood levels stay more consistent. The first of the day (they always build in a Nitrate-free period to maintain effectiveness) that is usually the problem. So premedicating 30 min in advance with approved acetaminophen for instance, can help by blocking the pain receptors.

        Bottom line is - it depends

            Only been wearing the nitro for one day, so we will see if the headaches calm down. I wonder though, if i am wearing nitro, does that make my XS go faster?

              Hi Robert,
              now you know the origin of the dynamite headache. And you thought it was just a phrase.
              Had me an under the tongue nitro spritzer after my heart attack and did notice the side-effect.
              Luckily I didn't have to use it enough to see if the headaches went away with steady use.
              And if the airport security people ask you, what's that?
              Tell them "medication" NOT "nitroglycerin."

                spray nitro = big headache
                patches = small headache
                and this too shall pass and other stuff will begin to bug you
                the spray gives you the whole .4mg all at once the patch is a slow release taking 12 hrs or so to get the same dosage into you . John is right it dilates the vessels give it some time
