    Not like the little stick lighters it is actually a torch sold for cooking. It puts out a flame like propane torch but smaller and more compact. Similar to this

    I wouldnt say it allows the pins to more freely, but it frees them up enough so that they move with much less effort.

      I have to say, the bottom line best method I have seen or tried yet is the simple little tool Ken Talbot posted with a dimensioned drawing. I have a set of carbs where I found three of the pins were gorilla glued in place. I made the tool per Ken's drawing, and all three came out with no problems and no broken anything. Kudo's to Ken for this awesome tool!!!

        I too just did a set of '81 carbs the other day and there was thick layers of old dried gas. The float wouldn't even move. Had them all off in about ten minutes. Did the same.with the pilot jets, had them all out in even less time.

        Not saying anything against kens tool, never used it, sure it works great, never had a need for it though. In my mind its something else to lose, but I use that little torch for everything!
