  • Not an XS thing but....

Thought some of you might find some interest in this....
First one of these I've ever attempted... should have it done over the weekend.
Looking forward to using it instead of the floor jacks.

Got busy with this today and decided to finish it.... (it was in the way of the regular "honey do" list.

              That's her truck up there.

I see you have a designated parking spot for the Ford as marked by the sign above it. Nice lift and garage.

                  Hi Jarion,
first, I'm consumed by envy of you having a garage big enough & tall enough to put a lift in.
                  But beware that two-post lift!
Unlike the 4-poster which will stand there like an elephant, the 2-poster's stability is more like that of an ostrich, entirely dependent on how well it's feet are bolted down.

                      Hi 'runner,
I've seen the 2-post lifts in Princess Auto and I'm sure PA's US equivalents (Harbor Freight?) sells them too.
Thing is, unlike the 4-poster, the 2-poster's stability depends on how well the purchaser/installer bolts it down.
If the average amateur simply runs 3/8" expansion bolts into the 4" thick slab of his garage floor I can see the stable rest point as the truck's front bumper and the edges of two rough disks of concrete that are firmly bolted to the lift's feet.
You'd need two massive concrete footings set way deep into the garage floor with 3/4" threaded rod U-shapes cast into them to stick up through the footplates to bolt that lift down properly.

                        Agree

There are 6 Three Quarter inch expansion bolts 5 inches deep on each side. Each torqued to 80lbs. The bolts came with the lift. It's a lite lift (7K lbs capacity).

My kids picked this out, pooled their money together, bought it and gave it to me as a Christmas present. I've just gotten around to installing it.

Believe me, I will be keeping an eye on stability.

I agree with your thoughts Fred with regard to anchoring....
I do like 4 post lifts as well but there's some limiting factors with them...

                          Also

Don't be envious Fred... I'm just the keeper of the things I possess on this Earth.... I firmly believe that all I currently have has been given to me by the Lord.

This picture doesn't represent the "garage".... it's the "MAN CAVE"
I bought an old 12' aluminum flat bottom boat the other day... so now, There's a "man boat" sitting on the "man lift" in the "man cave" (replacing all the rivets on the boat and the lift is perfect for this little project).... Thinking about fabbing something up so I can use the lift for the XS.

The garage has cars in it.... along with my wifes other stuff (she's setting up a 5013C non profit and is extremely heaving / devoted to animal rescue)... she rescues dogs from shelters... and there's so much dog crap in there I can officially call the garage the "dog house"...
