Know what you mean about not looking at the prices, kinda wants to make a person go postal on the oil co.

3.59 up to 3.70 in the Albuquerque metro area. My son is furiously trying to get his little Honda 250 finished for commuting to work. The Honda gets 70 mpg while my economy car he has borrowed only gets 35. We all are cutting down on those unnecessary trips and riding the motorcycles when we do need to go to town.

4.06 to 4.22 for reg here and 4.19 to 4.50 for mid grade which is what brutus insists on.

And still rising of course, and crap gas with ethanol in it to boot.

              gas price

We are at about $1.30 per liter.
But consider this: The largest supplier of oil to the US is Canada. Gas sells for less in the US than Canada. It is us up here that should be complaining.
The US prez said the other day you should get a more fuel efficient vehicle, but his comment was aimed at real gas hogs even though he did not know what the complainent was driving.
Europe pays about twice as much as us.
The place where gas is the cheapest appears to be the US, if we do not count a few the middle eastern producers.

I hope my fuel economy improves after removing the Vetter fairing and replacing it with a smaller lighter unit.
My red light comes on at about 100 miles.

My bikes have always gotten better mileage with Vetter fairings than without them. That has been my experience, at least when not doing max speed runs. Now I'm aware that the pacifico fairings are supposed to cut the air better than the Vetters do, but my experience has been that I get an increase over naked or with a bar mounted shield, at least over a full size, I've never tried with a small one or a small fairing though.

I installed a bar mounted shield which I think will be better than the Vetter.
I started a post on the subject about two weeks ago.

Hope it works well for you. Not everything works well for everybody. Can't see how 15-20 lbs on the front end could cause handling problems unless something is wrong with the bike as they were designed with the fairings in mind. The Vetter Fairing was one of only two fairings that was factory installed by Yamaha, and they would not have done so if handling was adversely affected by the fairing, other than lowering the top speed of course.

It is not just the wieght that is the problem IMO, it is also that poor airodynamics.
A good fairing should enable the bike to go faster, not slower.
I posted comments about that on the fairing thread.
The Yamaha folks I have spoken with have all talked about the detrimental effects of the heavy Vetter fairing.
My posts under the fairing heading have talked about the bike and what areas of the bike need attention, but, there is nothing wrong with the bike.
It handles resonably well for a rolling couch, and goes straight down the highway. Any referances from me about handling deficiencies will be about improving the bike ( like a fork brace which is installed ) and comments about comparison to my SV1000S Suzuki.
A bike that weighs as much as the XS11 will never handling really well, I accept that, but any improvement if possible, should be a desirable thing.
The brakes could be better too. But I ride this bike on a regular basis, as in all year.

I've noticed prices on motorcycles for sale have started to climb in our area. I am sure summer coming is a factor but I think gas prices have a lot to do with it too. Glad I'm not currently in the market for a bike......but then I have always wanted a 305 Honda Dream.....mmmm.....

Well CY I will have to disagree with this because in the factory pacifico manual it states you must install HD fork springs
