  • Swap meet find

Hey guys and gals. I was off to the local swap meet here this weekend. I found a rather interesting poster and figure I best share it with you. Apparently these posters were only available to dealers for their show rooms. It measures 33" by 48" and has a flip up coverlet on the top portion of the poster. The bottom part is a ghosted cut away type pic in black and white which I hope shows up in the pics. The top part shows a full color pic of the bike (78E), but when you flip up the overlay it shows a complete cut away version of the bike. It shows the double walled pipes and even the layers in the seat. I thought it was just too cool and had to have it.
The guy I bought it from had decided not to sell it and had taken it out to his truck so no one would see it. I was talking to his son as I bought yet another Clymers manual and we got to talking about the site and my bikes. Later when his dad had returned he told him about me. They got the poster out and after he chatted with me a while about the XS11's (which he and his wife took their honeymoon on), he said I have something you may like to see. He then unrolled this poster and I popped a woody. He says this needs to go somewhere that it will be appreciated and I think you would be a good guy to have it. We talked price a while and finally I offered him 75 bucks for it and he accepted. Yes I know that was probably a ton too much but I just had to have it. I hope the pictures show it well and that you enjoy my new piece of art work.

That is a very nice poster!!! How about taking it to a photocopier place and scanning it in? Might drive the price on yours down a bit though.

I don't even mind the price I paid. I knew it was important to him and I only had 75 in my wallet so I just opened with my best offer so I could bring it home.

          Great find!
My grandfather had a poster like that in his "fishing" locker, only his poster was a woman and her cloths were on the overlay.

I prefer to think of it as the Canadian dollar is doing that much better. I do recall we went up to Niagara in about 94 and the rate was more like $1 CND = $0.75 US
