Pretty bike... too bad it's been repainted. Here's the listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1978-...item3a64c9234e
Looks like it may have been a barn find (note the pitting on the handlebars, and if you look close you'll see some minor corrosion here and there) that had the crap detailed out of it. Not 100% original parts either; non-stock rear shocks, and the left petcock has an oddball handle on it.
Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

'78E original owner - resto project
    '78E ???? owner - Modder project FJ forks, 4-piston calipers F/R, 160/80-16 rear tire
    '82 XJ rebuild project
    '80SG restified, red SOLD
    '79F parts...
    '81H more parts...

    Other current bikes:
    '93 XL1200 Anniversary Sportster 85RWHP
    '86 XL883/1200 Chopper
    '82 XL1000 w/1450cc Buell, Baker 6-speed, in-progress project
Cage: '13 Mustang GT/CS with a few 'custom' touches
    Yep, can't leave nuthin' alone...

Nice eye Steve, but it's really clean. That speedo cluster is unreal..you can't fake that. It is really too bad it's not maroon.

          It is very nice

and non-stock colors would not deter me either - it is still a head turner....

hope mine gets to that point someday - but I'm afraid it would have to be a garage queen to do it - not appealing....

nice enough to strike up a conversation is good enough for me -

I like it. If I ever get a chance I would go to a non stock color.
