A state trooper who helped investigate a two-motorcycle crash that left three people dead Sunday in Okmulgee County said he had never before seen evidence that two motorcycles collided with as much force.
Killed were Shane Reed, 20, of Bixby; Kali Hull, 17, of Tulsa; and Travis Flud, 20, of Beggs.
Flud was driving a 2001 Honda motorcycle west in the eastbound lane of Adams Road near County Road 250 at a high speed about 7 a.m., troopers said. The area is just east of U.S. 75 near the Tulsa-Okmulgee county line.
Flud's motorcycle collided head-on with an eastbound 1998 Honda motorcycle driven by Reed, the OHP said.
"I don't think I've ever seen two motorcycles hit more head-on," Trooper Matt Ledbetter said. "It was tire to tire."
He added that one motorcycle hit the other with enough impact to knock it back, which would only happen if the collision was solidly head-on.
