  • 78 XS1100 new to site and ready to rebuild the 2nd and 5th

Well, I have had this bike now for about 9 months. Brought it back from the scrap yard and yes, it's running nice. But, like all I have read... it's jumping on the 2nd gear. And, between the Tsunami and Yamaha discontinuing most of the parts in Novemeber of '10, we are now scrambling.

Does anyone have the 2nd and 5th gear for me to buy?

Most of us just re-grind the dogs and slots on our old gears. If you got coin for new ones, parts 16 and 19 on the fiche..

Yep, good luck with your tranny rebuild. Might want to look into doing the washer swap mod while you're in there. This will help 2nd from going out again.

Yes, do the washer swap but be sure to chamfer the inside edge of the washer untill the gear spins freely on the shaft.
