  • Anybody running a tank bag?

Looking at different tank bags, and i am having difficulty finding one that will fit my special. The magnetic ones i have tried, all see to end up with the magnets on the emblems, and therefore won't hold well. I have heard that the strap type ruins your paint, so i am shying away from that. Anyone use one that fits well" What brand, and how big.
    Thanks

    hi XS1100 Newbie,

im running a tank bag, it has both magnets and straps
to hold it to the tank, as is it will scratch the tank up
pretty good unless u put some sort of cloth or felt
    between the two.

heres a pic with out the straps, the magnets do interfere
with the emblems but doesnt affect how it sticks to the tank.

Mine just has EXL on it. It's on my MNS, and hold on with 3 magnets. sits on TOP of the tank, and its not that big. It will hold my spare gloves and a camera, has a place for a map on top, and a pocket for a cell phone.

CORTEC Super Mini,or even a regular sized CORTEC will work without the magnets drooping over onto the emblems, and it stays where you put it even without any straps and at high speeds too.

I have a Motopak GT-27 (20L expandable to 27L) I use on my special and standard. I use the front strap around the steering neck. The magnets sit just above the emblems.

            Tank bag

I use one, it has a magnet for and aft, and a magnet on each side near the front. It fits my Suzuki better but does the job on Yami. Yami has room for a much larger bag so I am looking for one. My bank has a clear plastic sleeve to slide in a map or notes, plus a small pocket at the rear where I store a clock. Can look down and see / read both while riding.
Has side pockets that are handy to store wallett as I need quick access when buying a ferry ticket. Also has a rain cover that is tucked in at the front when not in use. And it has straps so it can be worn as a back pack.
I can take pictures if required and provide the brand.

I have a cortec bag that came with my bike. I have to say I don't really like it, it interferes with the seat and is difficult to put on and remove. I'm thinking about a magnetic bag, but it's not really a high priority with the fairing, bags and tailtrunk.

I have a firstgear brand and I keep a micro fiber towel under it. It's magnetic and they hold very well. When refuling I just flip it over to one side. Two magnets hold it on, no need to remove the whole thing.

I have this one and I like it. I've had it about seven years. It fits nicely on my Special.
