    Buddy

I was 13 then and listening to His music.
Have seen the movie and the live show/s.
    Ditto above for Patsy Cline.

I listen to Patsy Cline all the time. The only "true" country artist on my ipod. One of the best voices if not THE best ever.

Being born in 66, I never heard alot of his stuff. I have listened to plenty of Waylon Jennings stuff though, it always haunted him that he jokingly told Holly he hoped the plane crashed.

Wasn't born yet ('73), but listen to Buddy quite often, and my kids are being raised on him and other classic rock from maltshop 50's through the 70's. RIP Buddy, Richie, and Big Bopper.

                The day the music died

I was 20, stationed in France, U S Army. A sad day indeed. We had a group at the Service Club and played a lot of his music. Same for Big Bopper

The best thing about country is the way the singers names obey the truth in advertising laws, like Wail On Jennings and Tammy Whine It.
BTW, the music died with Sibelius.

Buddy Holly was my homeboy! I was in the 8th grade in Lubbock Texas at the time. I was in Orchestra learning violin. The youth of Lubbock were in morning. It was a very major event with the “youth culture” in Lubbock. You just can't get much more remote from the rest of the world (in the USA) than Lubbock Texas. To have someone like Buddy come along to put Lubbock on the map, and then die so tragically...ig deal, very big deal. Of course I didn't realize what a big deal it was until years later.
Buddy owned an Ariel 650 Twin that he bought from our “everythingbutHarley” bike shop. I yous to sit on it in their showroom back then.
Rudy Vallie's home turf is only an hour's ride away from me. What a tragedy. The first Hispanic Pop superstar . Such talent, so young.
But the music didn't die! No, we still have American Idol, and Justin Berber...

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
                      I've been riding since 1959.

                              Fiddler?!!

"I didn't know you were a fiddler, Ed."

No,no,no, a violinist, Planedick. My formal musical training. The "Maestro" would chastise us by calling us "fiddlers" if we didn't hold the violin properly.
To this day I think that orchestra spoiled me for "jamming." One simply doesn't go off on a improvisational riff in the middle of "The Russian Sailors Dance" a la whatshername Simpson on the sax.
