Yeah, so fookin' annoying. The way i spot 'em is to do a Google search of their name, the spammers usually show up on loads of sites Worldwide, then i report to admin and let them take measures.

This makes me wonder if one of our own has a virus or something that is reporting us to some group who promotes this crap. Or possibly someone is submitting info out of spite or carrying a grudge.

No, this is just a SMALL example of what most GOOD IT people put up with every day. These a$$wipes do this 24/7, so we need to keep dumping stuff 24/7. One of these days I'd like to invent a program that could backtrack and BLOW UP the computer that this stuff really came from. NOT the computer he took over, but the spammers personal computer! With any luck, the spammer would be hit in the chest with a sliver of steel or plastic, and be put out of our misery.

It certainly would serve them right. This kind of Junk lowers the enjoyment of the site for sure. I do not understand why it is so prevalent, do enough people actually click on this stuff to make it pay?

It takes less than 1/10th of 1% of people clicking on the link, and of those, less than 1% actually falling for it, to make it pay for them. And to top that off, most of those who click on it are likely to get the virus that spreads the stuff and then they become part of the problem and most likely any and all passwords they enter from their computer are owned by the spammers.

Sure feels that way. For the last few weeks, I think I've been averaging about 10 "spammer bans" a day. Maybe it is time to activate a pre-approval process for a while until things settle down a bit. What do you think, TC, would that be any less effort than clearing them out after they get in?

I've done alot of reading here and it seems a certain former member suggested a pre-approval process only to be told this site is too small to justify it. Ultimately its the owner of the site that would make this determination,and from what I've read that aint gonna happen.

I did a google search on one of the spammer's usernames the other day, and discovered a HUGE number of hits with the same name in unrelated forums all over the internet (there are forums out there about the strangest things!). I would imagine there are lists of forums available to these people, and they get paid to submit junk to as many as they can.

Maybe this is what they mean by "Earn thousands working from home! All you need is a computer and an internet connection!"

And for bug, You forgot the part about NO MORALS! If you have morals, you will not make it in that type of "work from home" environment!
