Definitely DO NOT chop that exhaust! That is a decent set (many are far worse, and still worth more than a MAC system). Also, get yourself a Standard tank to put on that bike. You'll enjoy the longer fuel range with the larger tank too.

AS indicated it looks to be a Standard. Everything but the gas tank, headlight, and front turn signals say it is a Standard. The tank is from a Special, the front signals and maybe the headlight bucket are not from an XS11.

As to the exhaust, yes, those stock exhaust are worth a small fortune. Seen some sell for more than alot of folks paid for their bikes, some even more than a NEW XS11. It'll take soem work on the header pipes, but they should clean up. And the carb system is tuned for those headers and pipes, along with the factory air box.

Most agree the MAC system performs for crap compared to the stock system. And the Marshal system, well, several folks have ordered them, but none ever received one. All I know of ended up cancelling the order and buying elsewhere.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.
