  • Random acts of culture

A friend of mine really doesn't care for musicals... He says people don't break into song at random.

The Opera Company of Philadelphia proved otherwise.

I thought this was pretty cool...

    Yep. Pretty cool.

Only problem I would have, were I a shopper on that day, is that I dont know the words. Still, I could probably wing it if I had to.

Heck I would join in if I were there. And yeah I would say SOME people do frequently burst into song.

Thanks for sharing Kat, that was truely awesome.
One thing that stood out for me is how happy it made all the people. You look around and most are in disbelief but but smiling, sharing, and joining in.
Wish something like that happened around here, but then I would probably miss it because I'm not the mall type.
            Oh well.

My daughter went to high school at the school for performing arts, they put on plays musicals and have bands as well as fine art shows as part of the curriculum A bunch of years ago, after a great performance of "West Side Story " a bunch of cast members went to the local park after the supervised cast party , to ...well party, the police showed up and yelled at them "Hey You" and all 50 of them replied "Who me, Officer Krupke?" and proceeded to perform the entire act with dance . The cops laughed, applauded and told them to go home and toss the beer in the garbage on the way out .
I didnt hear about this till later ...much later

I performed in WSS in High School too. Grease was my favorite though. That would have been a memorable experience for sure!

                        Flashmob

Saw an interesting one on facebook the other day - a flashmob at London Heathrow arrivals lounge. It was done for an ad for a cellphone company, but is still pretty amazing to watch some of the crowd reactions.

If you read the Thanks to the Vets thread, you may remeber my buddy Brock, wo lost a leg in Afghanistan. This was done at our local deathrace. A 24 hour 125 Km (77.7 Miles) foot race throug the rocky mountains. The Mayor was doing her speech, and gets cut off. The big guy in he marroon shirt beside her is Brock. The orgnisers, and the dancers were the only ones who knew about this. The Mayor didn't even know what was going on.
