Take it once piece at a time, some go quick others not so quick. And there is no such thing as a dumb question, all are asked out of ignorance and that is a very curable condition.
As you progress, you are bound to find many of the electrical devices that may very wel confound you what they are or where the heck did mother yammie hang this thing? Ask away, and I am sure someone else here with your same model and year will be able to post a pic of where and how it mounts.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

yeah it will defiantly be an adventure. i did find a website with exploded views or most everything so that has helped. though it does not tell me exactly WHERE things go especially with the electrical. oh well one bit at a time i suppose. thanks for all the encourgament that y'all have been giving. i cant wait to get this thing back together and on the road, or course i will have to as it is sharing time with about 3 other projects and a 12 yo daughter81 XS 1100 H

First thing you should do is head off to CatatonicBug 's website and download a manual for the bike. Or better yet dowload them all. You can piece alot together from just the photos as to part location. That will be a big help.RIP Whiskers (Shop Boss) 25+yrs

Hi Devildork,
First picture are the saddle bags..... they go on last after everything else is working
Last picture on first page is the frame. A good place to start with the spray can. hope you cleaned the rust off first.
Have fun I hope everything is in your boxes.

Hi Devildork,
Figure out what year and model you have and add that to your profile. This will help people answer your specific questions as you progress.
So many people asked i eventualy started a thread of the rebuild of Addie.
See "Phil's (not quite) excellent Venturer" thread for some idea.

well actually the saddle bags will not be going on the bike. one's hinge is broken and i do not want them. i would rather have some soft ones vs the hard ones.
i got a lot of the framed cleaned but am annoyed the rattle can was suppose to be a rust converted but it just looks like primer to me so i might have to restrip the frame.
the only thing that i know that i do not have is a seat which is sad. i do have two gas tanks though.
i have downloaded all of the manuals off that site that was one of the first things that i did and it was a great help.
i am pretty sure that it is an 81 XS1100 h standard.Last edited by devildork; 11-16-2010, 11:11 AM.81 XS 1100 H
