  • Drunks and other Road hazards

well it has been a while during a ride in the canyon here in Aug i came around a corner. and found lumber all over the rd ,i went off the road hit rocks came back on rd hit several 4x4 went up and over came down embankment so hard bent front wheel. When i came to a rest after my motorcycle gymnastis all my gear held up. Helmet took the impact on side of head, jackets and gloves a few holes but none on me. Boots saved my ankle im sure. even with gear i i broke my shoulder Blade yes its hard to do. when i came down i ended up breaking 3 teeth, shoulder needs surgery but been holding that off. the cause of the accident was a drunk at 9.30 in morning with a BAt of 3.24!!!! it was his 4th DUI he had no Ins, no lic not a damn thing. people who saw what happend ran him off rd and held him till Police arrived luckily he ws far enough away i couldnt get to him.
Just goes to show everytime we go for a ride we can never be sure of what we will find. so riding has been at a minimun so ive been a one arm wonder working on 2 more XS's i aquired. its going to be a long Winter.
    Stay safe

Real sorry to hear about that Paintman. I hope you have a speedy recovery and that the drunk gets what he deserves. It is like you say, we can never be sure of what we will find or run into. Take care of yourself.

I certainly feel for you Paintman!! I know what it is to lose use of an arm or leg or both in my case. It is horrible. And now I have developed tendenitus in the arm that was not hurt due to overuse while the other healed! More Therapy and yada yada yada......

as to the drunk thing....again, I feel your pain. MY sister-in-laws brother was riding home from work on a four lane highway about three weeks ago. Drunk decided to turn left when his front bumper was twenty from his bike. long story short...closed casket. And the POS SOB took off running. They tracked down the owner of the truck who initially said it was stolen and he had no idea who was driving it. Then when they explained he was going down for Vehicular manslaughter, suddenly he found out who was driving it. They caught him before he could skip town, and his BAT was over 2.5 THEN!!

Hope you heal up well and quickly!! And make sure to get those joints moving as much as you can as early as they will let you. Shoulder takes very little time to tighten up, but a looonng time to loosen back out.

            I Hate Drunks

Glad to here you will be able to heal. We have had a BUNCH of drivers hurt and killed by drunks around here lately. One POS killed an officer and his K-9 partner while running from the police. The drunk lived, and like your drunk had a long list of priors. Another drunk was killed when he rode his bike off the road and ended up in a cornfield. This POS had gotten out of jail for a vehicular homocide. His victims were two teenage girls on their way home from the fair. One of the girls was a neighbor of my parents and my sisters used to babysit her. I have also lost 2 cousins and an aunt to drunk drivers.
