  • Internal Throttle Assembally

I saw this from exile cycles, and wanted one, but didn't want to pay for it... So I decided I would make one... maybe a twist clutch with the same inernal desigh aswell. So I was trying to figure out the mechanism to do this, and the first thing that came to my mind was a tube of lipstick. After talking with a coworker, I found out Hardlys have close to the same setup for their clutch. the basics are a T-bar that is imobilised from spinning, and a spiral groove... Here is the mach up

I am better at showing then I am at explaining. Theere will be a cover on this too, and bearings. But tell me what you think.... and yes I am going very far from stock.

    Sounds like an interesting project.

On the surface, I am thinking you would probably have to limit the twist to 1/4 turn and maybe go to a stronter or perhaps redundant return spring at the carbs to make sure the butterflies snap shut when you let go of the grip.

    Have fun.

I was hoping for a 3/8 turn so the angle of the grooves is a bit steeper

Very interested, I have ALWAYS like the clean look of those Exile bikes. The hidden throttle and clutch, the brakes, all of that. I'm not a hard tail fan though, and the price tag on his stuff is almost OCC like!

How about finding an older bike in a salvage yard and adapt that to you bike?
