  • Missed another one. #@^T(*)(&(

Well i am so ticked again. missed another great buy. A guy less than 5 miles away had an XS850MNS, and a 1980 XS1100 MNS both for $100.00. They didn't have tanks or seats, but what the heck. I keep having to kick myself in the butt, because i don't have the funds to grab these deals when they are there. Maybe i just need a cure for this XS1100 disease i have. Oh ya, the other thing is about 6 hours away from me, a guy was selling a complete samsonite touring package for the XS1100 standard for $50.00. Said he didn't have the locks to attach them to the bike.

For $50 you could bungee them on and they would still be cool

You can use 1/2 X 2 1/2 13 tpi bolts, and grind the ends to a point. To be a bit more theft proof, use socket head cap screws to hold them to the brackets, if the brackets are with them.

          Locks

Those locks are easily replace and available at McMaster Carr (mcmaster.com) for really cheap. I would love to have a set of bags like those. Had them on the '79 but let them go with the bike...

The bike is running good. I was not so interested in the 850 as much as the 1100 MNS. Both for $100.00 was just a great buy. The MNS carbs alone are worth more than that, and if the MNS exhaust was still good it would have been a gold mine. I may call the guy, and see if he can tell me the name of the guy that bought them. Maybe i can get some parts cheap. I have all the triple tree pieces for the front, i just have to get bearings, and do some painting before i replace them.
