    Connection Troubles

    Well, once again I can't connect direct to the site from work. Home works fine, and using my phone's internet connection works fine, but work (and the hosting site I've always used in this situation before) are stopping at the same router in the sites hosting location. I'd say that the hosting co has a router going out, and I'm guessing that they reboot it and it works for a while, then out again (but then I could be wrong). Can any of those running the site check into this? I can send traceroutes showing where it stops without much trouble.

      Yep, I went for two weeks one time about a year ago having to use a proxy server. Then it started working one day and has been fine ever since (knock).

          I'm having the same issues... I can't even get the RSS feeds on my work PC. Everything works fine from home, but my work PC won't get here without a proxy. Been this way for a week or so now.

            Yeah, gotta catch that guy when he switches my working laptop for one that doesn't work on the way into work (right outta my Vetter trunk even) and then switches them back on my way home.

              Looks like the problem has migrated to my PC at home. Haven't been able to access the site directly for a few days, only getting now via a proxy server.

                  Did you get any errors trying to post before it happened? I have found (so far) that my not being able to get through has been proceeded by not being able to post (getting web server errors when trying) and after several of those, I cannot connect. This leads me to think it MIGHT be something at the web server level trying to protect the web server by blocking IP addresses this happens to? Last time I ended up with 2 sets of IP's not working, although I must admit that all of the other set are on the same subnet together which may mean something.

                    No errors. Just this is the first time I tried getting on here today from my home computer and it wouldnt connect, proxy got on right away (as fast a a crappy proxy can be).

                      Funny thing too with some of the proxies that I use, after submitting a reply to a thread instead of redirecting me to the original thread I just posted to it sends me to some old thread. hen I reply to this thread I keep getting redirected to the second page of some old thread from 2004.

                        I had the same problem. I had been forced to use a proxy at work until late last week, then suddenly it started working again. I started getting my RSS feeds and everything!

                          And worse I found that when using the proxy links such as first new post and last post don't work either, I have to go to each thread and scroll down, much more cumbersome.

                            Well, been trying several proxies here and I found one that seems to be fast and works for pretty much everything. It doesnt take you to the actual new posts just to the page of the new post, so its better than nothing.

                            its the only one that I have tried so far (and thats been quite a few) that doesnt annoy the crap out of me, so far.
