Plaendick, LarryM is here visiting from Washington and we just finished working on the bikes this evening. Since you're going to be -->this<-- close to Simi Valley give me a call or I'll call you tomorrow morning and lets do some riding!

            Back

Well, the rain wasn't a problem, 'cause I put on the lowers before I left thinking it was gonna be cool. Great ride, about 400 miles total, rain coming back Sun AM on 154 and lots of heavy fog. It was a great experience and I learned a few things about Pathfinder I have to fix before my trip. The neutral switch gets wet and causes ignition problems, especially when going down hill for long periods of time which lets the engine get cool and it doesn't dry off well when its wet. There is a gap in the backing of the area where the windshield mounts to the fairing and the water goes through and fills up the area behind it. Big puddles that come back in your lap when you excelerate!

I got lots of pics of really old bikes from the museum and I'll post some later when I have time to resize 'em and download. It's supposed to rain most of the week so I think I will take care of some of these issues mentioned above.

There should be two gaps, one on each side of the gasket. This will allow any water that collects to drain down the front of the fairing. The gap should only be about 1/8", and if it's too big that may cause a problem.
I've been wanting to go back to that museum since we all met there years ago! Did the guy ever get smart and add an XS11 to the stable??

That\'s MY old stomping grounds! I grew up in Oxnard. That fog can be killer, especially at night. I remember one evening we had to roll the window down and hang our heads outside just to see the line on the ground next to the car! Sounds like a nice ride - I wish I could have joined you.

                  Museum pics

We did get to the museum again, and no there ain't no XS in there, his idea was to have mostly race bikes there, but.....

I hope this works. Supposed to be a slide show of some really old bikes. Just click on the pic...
