  • How'd that happen

    Hey Everybody,
I was kinda wondering...I know this might be a result of my Capitolistic / Imperialistic / Paranoia.
But how did a guy (STROM) from a former Soviet Eastern Bloc Nation...get his hands on a XS 1100...
I bet it was "Spirited" behind the Iron Curtain...in order to be used in some "nefarious" manner
I bet they were going to perform "wierd" expierements on it and use the results to Destroy the free world
I'll bet when the Curtain fell...STROM found the bike in the basement of a former KGB station...I wonder if he checked it for radiation?
And for a guy who lives on Mars (practically) he sure seems to know alot about the XS 1100 (heck...Even I'm impressed)

Maybe he found the "Secret Dossier" along with the bike
Soviet spies probably rode it...it was probably used as a "weapon" against Free people everywhere!!

He should probably X-amine the machine carefully...it may have (previously undetected) weapons systems hidden ALL over it
it may even be (secretly) recording his EVERY move/word and be transmitting that data to an undisclosed location

Stranger things have been known to happen (on XS 1100's)
I used to know a few Latvians...and they would know what I'm talking about...but they rode CZ's (nyet a TYPO)
Anyhow I can certainy be sure in saying this "there ain't No Yamaha Dealers in Latvia"
But what about Slovenia ? can you see how this works ???
I'm going to go and lay down now...

        Hehe... Gave me a laugh...

OK... 1st off, check the map... again.

2nd... Nortons were manufactured in Slovenia (Norton-Tomos or sth... 750cc in the 60-s.) They didnt made enough profit, so manufacturing stopped. People didnt have enough money, or they rather bought something in ways of BMW, Zundapp, NSU, BSA, Puch, Moto Guzzi, even the odd Harley, Indian...
Later in the 70s there was a flood of Jawa and MZ bikes, but also a Moto Morini, Laverda bikes... not many sixties japanese stuff... started in the seventies with Hondas CB, odd goldwing 1000, a few CBX 1000, Yamaha XS (offcourse) and XJ, the odd XV, a lot of Z500, Z650, Z750, Z900 and Z1000, some Suzukis GS,...

In the 78 six XS Elevens were imported (by a Yamaha dealer), mine was one of them. Don't know how how many are still running, but mine is one of the two still original (not chopped) and running (sortof).

Basically one of the few things adopted from behind the iron courtain was the M57 handgun (yep, the commie 7.62, got one of those lying around the house... I think), but then again... I hear its becomming a colectors item in the US...with Yugoslavian crest and all... I think US special forces had them for a while... one of the first guns that worked underwater.
And theres an odd limo (car) in a museum that russians gave to our then beloved leader Tito.
But then, there are a few RR-s too.
BTW: Where do you think Dalmatians come from? Ex Yugoslavia!
        Or the horses from Lipica?

        You can find out more
        here.

And if you ever visit, check out the motorcycle museum.
