    It's the 2,500 mile check-up. Of course you could do it yourself, but if something went wrong they could challenge you on being able to proove you kept up with the maintnenance schedule. Fine print of the warranty. I'm sure there's no requirement to use the dealer's shop, but it makes the record keeping requirement a bit easier. And I'm sure going to the harley store every 2,500 miles gives the harley riders the warm fuzzies.
