  • NOS seat

I stopped by a repair shop the other week to ask about XS parts that they might have laying around. After telling the owner it would probably be easier to list what I didn't want, I gave him a short list of priority items, including the standard style seat and grab rail. Here's what I got: A 25 year old, new old stock seat, with shipping box (!), grab rail, all mounting hardware and rubber pieces, etc. (Technically, it's a new take-off seat, from some customer who bought a Yamaha accessory seat before delivery.) For $210, no tax. The guys at work thought I was a little too worked up over the whole deal... I'm trying to post a picture or two, but I have no idea how. The Falcon is coming around...

WOW great deal, but I bought a seat from a 79 special that the guy took off when it was new for $15. SEAT WAS PERFECT IN EVERYWAY WITH 0 MILES ON IT. (about 3 years ago). He sold me the bike, which was dissassembled around the yard for $25. I also bought a hard bags and fairing for $100. So total for a truckload of good stuff $140.

Gosh, I'm starting to feel like a sucker... At least I have the cool Yamaha cardboard box. And the plastic "shower cap" bag that the seat came in. Thanks for your reply on the chrome, by the way. I guess the sand is more aggressive than I thought. Before I get any more "great deals", does anyone have a front brake switch? ('79 SF, if it matters) Thanks!

Sucker? NOT! I just found an awesome deal! But so did you, NOS parts are extremely hard to find. I was just lucky. BTW when we going riding? We are only 3 hours apart. Me and the wife did a 400 mile trip through the Adirondak park last Saturday. You need to put XS East on your calender for next year.....

I'd love to go! I'm probably not even that far away, as my bike is in New Hartford, just outside of Utica, at my girlfriends house. (She rides too.) It would be nice to have an experienced XSsive ride my bike and give me some feedback on it's state of tune.
