  • Goldwing Trike with a sidecar!

I went on my first ever Patriot Guard mission today, and saw this rather strange bike! It's a really nice Goldwing, with the rear wheels spaced like a trike, but the right side has a sidecar attached!

Here's a picture of about half of the bikes that were involved in today's mission.

We ended up being a parade that ran through at least 5 different towns, and they all had people out with flags waving and a few of the towns even had fire trucks out with flags hoisted over the road! The Highway Patrol shut down the highway for the procession, and it was a really humbling experience. We had a small group of protestors, but they gave up after about an hour.

    Hi 'Bug,
kudos to the Patriot Guard and to you for your membership.
But about the Goldwing vehicle, the photo don't show, how many wheels and where were they?If it has the steering and driving wheels in one line with a support wheel on the other side it looks like someone has re-invented the Scott Sociable.

        Hi Fly,
yeah, I Googled "hannigan tricar" and 'Bug's photo seems to be one of those.
I dunno about that layout though. Seems to me that such a massive rig would be a bitch to lift even with it's driving wheel left in it's usual place so long as the chair had a reasonable track width.
The Tricar's hermaphrodite layout will have more nearly symmetrical handling than a conventional sidecar rig but like any trike, it has three tracks instead of two and thus will be more likely to hit every bump and pothole in the road.

I been riding with the Patriot Guard for two years. Many very impressive rides. The real bad thing is the flag line at the airport while waiting for the arrival, unloading, family visit and loading in the hearse. Usually about 2 or more hours standing in the hot sun on the tarmac. Brutal to say the least, but I figure if that guy can give his all it's the least I can do. Some of the processions are miles long.

              Hi Fly,
if I could afford just one of those dollar sinks let alone two I'd pay off my mortgage instead.
