  • 9-11 Remembered

I woke this morning as I have done on this day for the past 8 years with tears in my eyes.
Not necessarily tears of hurt, sadness and anger but also tears of joy of what this country is and can be.

I will never forget where I was (a dormroom in Philadelphia) when the news came in.
How it seemed the country stood still, and then banded together.
How the entire world seemed to lend a supportive hand.
It's a day, and a period in my life, that has marked me forever.

My girlfriend Karla is off this morning to start her MSF Basic Motorcycle course.
I couldn't think of a more appropriate way to spend the day, celebrating her freedom!

Me, I'm off to help a friend install some new springs and fork oil on his Honda Sabre.
He's my best friend, and I'm excited to spend time in the laughing company of a fellow patriot.

Be safe today my friends, and live it full of every hope and promise that this country stands for.

Two weeks vacation does NOT make a life.

I am Canadian, but still remember this all crystal clear, I am also a firefighter now, so this has some extra impact for me too. I was in grade 7 (yes I am only 21) and they stopped classes, sent everyone to the Gym, sat us down, and we watched the news all day...
There are only two types of bikers...
those that have layed it down, and
those that have not layed it down...YET!

Yep, I've been up in those two towers at least 50 times back in the mid 80's working as a messenger. Hard to believe. Rest those people's souls.
