One word... balaclava. They are thin but warm and comfortable. I use mine for snowmobiling and it keeps my neck warm, in another month or so I will start using it while I ride the bike... If you end up getting one I suggest getting one that doesnt have the seam right down the nose...'79 XS11 F

When I ride up in the North Carolina mountains in the fall, I take a ski cap and cut the top off, works great pulled down over the neck. Cheap too. Cold weather advice from a Florida dude, lol.2H7 (79) owned since '89

Try this
Go to the local opptunity or used clothing shop,
search the pullovers for one that is the color you like,
buy it for a dollar.
take it home, cut one of the sleeves off, the cut to length required.
you have the choice of getting pure wool ( warm when wet) acrylic or a mixture of both.
I was fortunate to get a "marino wool/possom fur" black sweater and have a very warm water resistant collar that owes me NZ $0.50, less than a US$0.25http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...e/DSC00009.jpg

Get yourself, or make, one of these..

I bought one off a street seller in the square in Christchurch for 20 bucks a couple of years ago and it's absolutely the best neck warmer I've ever had. I use while it on the bike, I use it skiing, i use it on the golf course, while horse riding.. just about everywhere outside in inclement weather it gets used. Prior to this I used half a sleeve cut off a large wollen jersey. Worked well for years but nowhere as good as the polar fleece one.
Most ski shops also sell neck warmers but at ski shop prices..1980 SG. (Sold - waiting on replacement)

I use an old dicky of my wifes. For those of you that don't know what it is, it is the part of the turtle neck that fits around the neck, but without the rest of the shirt. Can't hardly find them any more.1980 XS1100LG Midnight

Behind my fairing, even down to 22ºF, all I have ever needed is my full-face helmet with a chin dam, and my lined, armored, waterproof jacket zipped all the way up. The only thing that I ever worry about getting cold is my hands, but I just got a set of Hippo Hands to solve that problem this Winter.1980 XS850SG - Sold
