  • accessing yahoo mail from work

i am sure someone else has had this problem.
when i am at work i cannot access my yahoo mail because it gets blocked by the company intranet. now....i somehow was able to access it the other day by mistake, but unfortunaltly can't remember exaclty how i did it.
i kinda remember signing in from the yahoo site[username and pw], then instead of hitting enter on the keyborad, i actually mouseclicked on the sign in button, then it showed my yahoo mail page, and i was able to just clik 'check mail' and there it was. i'll be damned if i can do it again though.

as it is now, i can only do a quick view of the yahoo mail and merely see who sent what, but can't read it or respond.

    anyhelp appreciated.

I don't use yahoo but when I log in to my service using webmail I have to choose an advanced interface so i can reply to email.
Does your IT department not allow Yahoo for some reason?

Our system is the same. Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, AOL, etc., along with all YouTube links, MySpace, and ANYTHING Facebook (including emails that include that word). We also block weather.com, Ebay, Amazon, most news sites, and TONS of other things that people waste company time on (thankfully, XS11 has not made it to that list yet! )

Occasionally, the server that does the filtering stops working, so it allows those things to get through for a while, until someone catches it and reboots the server. I use a Remote Desktop connection to access my home PC using a free DynDNS.com account that allows me to type in a DNS name instead of an IP address to access it. Once I am connected to my home PC, I can access my personal mail there.

          Hi Redbone,
perhaps your employer figures you should be actually working while you are on company time?

You could always set up a mail forwarding on your yahoo account so you get a copy in your work mail inbox. Would make for a lot of extra deleting work but if its that important could be worth it.

Don't know exactly how to do it on yahoo but there should be a place somewhere in the options menu that give the option to forward your messages.
