  • Are all you Texans still afloat??

    Hey Folks,
I've been monitoring the progress of Hermine in TX and seen all the flooding going on. Living in FL you kind of stay abreast of hurricanes this time of the year.
Best wishes and good luck to all affected.

We got 10 inches of rain at our house in 24 hours. We, however, live on a hill. The people creek side are pretty unhappy today.

      I bet, Patrick.
We haven't heard from Kat and John, so I'm wondering about them.

They should be in the thick of it now.
        Went by us yesterday finally.

Made for an interesting morning, that's for sure...
          lol

Getting ready to take the girls to school this morning, after having the power steering go out due to the overly wet belts while taking our son to school (just temporary... but it got my attention) something about driving through rivers doesn't go well with the Mom-mobile... one of the girls says "Hey Mom, is that U thing supposed to be up like that?"
We just had some new plumbing installed over the weekend getting ready for a new addition to the house...
I didn't think anything of it until her sister repeated pretty much the same thing a few minutes later... guess I'd best check this out. Look out the back door to see the new plumbing floating at ground level (it was a few feet below ground level when it was installed)
huh (I think to myself) that's not right... and it wasn't...

The next 30 minutes was spent placing 2 60 lb bags of rocks and 2 80 lb bags of cement on said plumbing to keep it from rising to the occasion again... It was a sight to behold, I'm certain, as I was sinking into the freshly dug out mud with every step... my daughter trying her best not to laugh as my last effort to pull my mud covered leg from the mud was no easy task... The funniest thing was that I had rolled my jeans up once to keep them from getting muddy... it just held the mud as I sank knee deep in muck...
          lol

There is now a beautiful rainbow... the water has receded... the air is clean... the unexpected load of sand for the foundation that was delivered during the heaviest part of the rainfall today didn't ALL wash away... and the inspector came out this afternoon and approved the plumbing... so we're good...
Truly a God is smiling on us day...

Glad everyone else came out relatively unscathed at this point...
When it rains... it pours... and pours...
