let me say this about that........
First off the PRI on the fuel valve is "prime" and is used with the octopuss fuel system. (ok, so my jargon is bad) You shouldn't have to use that setting if you are running with out it.
Second make a search for fork brace. Tkat makes a great looking and functional one. I don't use one.wpc57

Hey Tomek,
Welcome to the club !
Let me start by saying this...Take a while to "familiarize" yourself with this bike...as you know it is BIG and powerfull BLAH-BLAH-BLAH...But the little things can "ruin" your fun...such as the PRI setting...it is for when you run out of FUEL...whether by accident (ran dry) or from sitting (evaporation) this setting is crucial to avoid XSive "cranking" on the starter...this setting allows fuel to "flow" by by-passing the "Vacum Diaphram" (located on the fuel system) commonly known as the "OCTOPUS"
Under normal conditions fuel flows when the motor is running and the petcocks are in the "ON" or "RES" position...when you shut the motor off...there is no more vacum...and fuel SHOULD NOT flow...OK you guys can stop laughing...I did say normal conditions if the bike smells like gas...check the vacum diaphram first, petcocks, second.
Remove the vacum line located on the intake manifold (small rubber line) leaving the other end attached to the diaphram, and with your mouth...suck on the vacum line and hold the pressure for about 10 seconds...the pressure should "hold" and not "leak down" if it does...check the vacum line for cracks or splits...and replace if necessary...then re-check.
If it still leaks...you may want to consider removing it...or repairing it... (the Octopus)eventually you will do one or the other.
Both methods are easy...you can find threads about both proceedures here...(I believe)
All Specials came with "octopuses" Stock...Some guys put the petcock on PRI and ride it that way...they let their "FUEL WARNING LIGHT" be their guide
It's one of those things that's good to know...especially after cranking it for about ten minutes...then you realize it's not fueling... for some reason one or more of the carb bowls are dry switch her to PRI...wait one minute... flip the choke...and VROOM!!!!
Oh did anyone tell you about the "Mystery Fuse"?
It's not a Myth It really does exist...but that's another THREAD
At least now you know what PRI means...and what to do if you should ever run out of gas...And as we ALL know...on a SPECIAL...that ain't to difficult
Good Luck...Keep postin'
