  • Friggin bummer to be broke!!!

Saw an add on a 1980 Special with rear rack, and fairing. 30000 miles, nice shape, and i don't have $500.00 to buy it. It is nice enough, that i thought i should sell my MNS to buy it. Don't have time to do it. This is the second good buy in the last few months i have missed. My fear is someone will buy it and part out a perfectly good Special.

Yeah? Well if people didn't part out good stuff you'd be looking at buying scabby old pieces of crap.

Yep, same here. Keep seeing them on craigslist, and don't have the money (or the trailer, or the vehicle to tow the trailer) to get them. I would even kick the Camaro out of the garage to make room if I got them. Oh well, maybe next year will be better (and maybe the Camaro will get on the road this winter too.).

          You can't save them all.

          Hi Newbie,
it's like going to the humane society and bringing a dog home .
          You can't save them all.
You did your bit with the MNS and now it's up to someone else to save this one.
BTW, not having $500 to spare ain't being broke.
Sleeping under a bridge and scrounging food out of a MacDonalds garbage can, that's being broke.

Pretty much. I'm not completely broke, but I'm not far off, either. My bike's sitting in the barn, more than likely up for the summer for want of $40 worth of new carb float valves to replace the leaky ones. I've just got too much money I owe for other things, and the motorcycle is (unfortunately) bottom of the list in terms of priority.
              Currently XS-less.
