I do know that the windscreen on the later fairing and the Vetter WILL interchange. The '78 only Pacifico has it's own shield, and it's a bugger to find!

That fairing IS Vetter. Betin that's one of the rare oddball dressers. And yes, Vetter DID do the fairings for at least the 81 Venturers anyways and that IS what would be the tour-pac for the Standard of 80 and 81. In thirty years of these scoots I've seen two other 11's exactly like that one she has. Fairly positive they came the way you see it......rare as hens teeth to say the least. Interesting to hear what more she may find out, maybe investigating at the dealer where it was sold.
81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

I'll have to ask Craig again about it, but I'm pretty sure that if he made them he would have claimed so. Another thing to look at is the serial plate, as ALL vetter made fairings, even though made for someone else said so on the serial number plate. If it doesn't say Vetter on the serial plate then it's a knockoff by someone else that copied the vetter fairings, and according to sources there were at least 5 or 6 manufaturers that made exact copies of the windjammers, right down to using all the exact same hardware and mounts.

Ok, I just sent an email off asking about it, I'll post the answer here when I get it.

Sure a petty nice deal you found. Would like to know what kind of PM you've done or are planing. A few things would be on my list if I were you.

            OK guys!!!!
Checked the (pins) in the wiring harness.........9....So will have to look again closer at the serial tag.. ..If I can manage to get my camera in there I'll takes pics...I'll post my findings. I feel motoman is correct..this is a rare bike..going thru the 100's & 100's of 80' yamaha pics on the internet. I only saw 1 or 2 like this..the paint on this matches the fairing & 2 lower sides..the dealer where it was sold is only 30 miles from my house..So will take a cruise there when I get back home next week. Going to have to do more digging on that 1980 Yamaha add I saw..It was a bike just like this one.!!! Sat up late 4 or 5 hrs the night before I bought this just digging for info...All the info I read was great so I road it.. then bought it..

              Hey guys,
Checked out the metal serial tag..Says Yamaha at the top..underneath the wiring it states "Yamaha parts distributor"..In REAL small lettering. Cant read the smaller lettering under that. had to actually get a mirror to even see under the wiring harness. So thats all I have for now..

I checked with Craig Vetter, and Vetter Corp did indeed make the fairings for the later XS1100's. He even pointed me to the guy who did the design mods to fit the square Yamaha headlight into the Vetter fairing design. He says he doesn't know much about the fairings made for Yamaha as they were made after he sold the company and he wasn't involved in them like he was some of the others.

But the answer is yes, that is a Vetter Fairing made specifically for the 11.

Glad I was able to confirm your information. Below is the quote from Craig Vetter, and you might notice that the guy who did the design modifications on the Windjammer is still designing and building fairings.

Hi Cyrus: You can quote me but I don't know much about this. I sold Vetter at the end of 1978. The new owner did indeed produce a fairing for Yamaha. Charly Perethian has told me everything I know about it, which isn't much. Charly designs and produces Parabellum Fairings in Georgia today. He did all the modifications to use the Yamaha headlight, etc. Why don't you send him an E mail and get it straight from the man who was involved?

                    Craig
So there it is, straight from the horses mouth.
