I am going to fabricate a luggage rack for my trip. On this luggage rack I plan to put a suitcase, tent, and an armchair. I am concerned about having too much weight behind the rear tire. Is this something I should be worried about?

Hey there Beech,
I read about someone who had a cargo carrier on the back, and the weight and vibration caused some welds of the support arms for the fender/shocks IIRC? to get loose. They rewelded things and made it alright. I can't remember if they posted this on this forum or on the Yahoo site.
So...in your fabrication, along with the supports close to the edge of the rear seat, you may want to rig up some extra brackets that provide better support leverage from the farthest rear end of your carrier down to the frame like near the rear passenger foot peg bracket!? All depends on how much weight you are going to put in that suitcase!!!
Good luck. T.C.T. C. Gresham
