man you ain't kiddin everythings bent. the person ridin that was a lucky soul.
Yes, I got chills just looking at the bike; still bothers me to look at it. The guys at the towing company were surprised the rider was still alive. They'd never seen a motorcycle engine break in half before!
I think it slid along the pavement at a high rate of speed and hit one of the steel guardrail support posts. That's the only thing with sharp right angles I can think of off hand along a freeway that a sliding bike would hit. Everything else is pretty well Nerf'd out and sharp corners rounded, buried, or hidden behind crash barrels.

Yeah, that would do it and explain some of the other marks and smears that don't really jibe with hitting a guardrail post or six!

No, there's not really much left and most of the parts I'm willing to part with have already been spoken for -- y'all are fast!
So far I've spent $300 total for three (mostly) complete bikes with engines that run or were at least running a couple of weeks ago. That's almost a full order of magnitude less than I spent last year just for new piston rings, connecting rod and main bearings for my '80G engine.

In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
