What's with the body warranty's?

What's going on. I just had a conversation with my Dr this morning, and found that there are problems with my biopsy for my prostate I had last friday. I definitely am going to have to go through some treatment, it's just a question of what, I have another biopsy scheduled for next month to figure out the extent of the problem.

I have to say, guys, if you're over 50 get your exams on a regular basis, they say it's quite treatable if caught early, which it looks like we did in this case. I've been nervous all week, and now my stomach feels like a mixer, but I'm glad I chose the aggressive approach when the Dr didn't like how it felt in the exam.

Sorry to hear that CY. I was scared to death when they took my biopsy, until the report came back. Have never been able to figure out why if it is a matter of life and death, they can't read these things in a day or two, instead of a week or two. I wondered about my warranty when i had my first heart attack. Then they told me i needed a quadruple bypass. Shoot, the worrying about that about gave me another heart attack, which i did have 1 1/2 years later, on the same artery as the first time. The stents pluged up. They stuck two more in, and that uped the chances of it pugging again to 65%. Ain't that great news. Something to look forward to, having them crack me open again. Figure this out, they go in and do the bypass, but don't bypass the one that gave me a heart attack. Isn't that kind of like rebuilding a V8, and only doing 7 cylinders? So i wait until that artery gives me trouble, and go back in. FUN FUN FUN. Seriously though i hope everything works out we for you.

Sorry to hear about your recent problems! I'm definitely no expert, but one of the things I remember hearing/reading about in the last year was that the actual PSA values themselves were not as important, as the TREND in them, such as if they were rising over several exams/years.

Allegedly 1 in 3 men will have prostate problems...mostly BPH....basic prostate hyperplasia=enlargement...whether that is any indicator that it could become cancerous I don't know!? I know of several patients that I have seen while doing eye exams that related in their histories that they had successful treatments with the radiation SEED implants. At over 50 y/o who's worrying about having kids anymore, and this allow a person to keep their prostate...which serves 2 basic functions. It's the "octopus" valve for your urine...allows you to control it's flow/stop, etc.! Secondly, it provides the 95% of the ejaculate fluids and the orgasmic response..surprisingly sperm only make up about 5%! If it's removed, I think you loose your ability orgasm, but not totally sure!

Yeah, this warranty stuff is why I had my colonoscopy 5 years earlier than the nationally recommended age...due to strong family history...and glad I did, they found 3 polyps, 1 almost precancerous! That was 7 year and now 4 colonoscopies later, but I'm clean and clear now.....still full of SH*T but healthy and happy about it! Best of luck with your diagnostic and treatments!

Wow....Sorry to hear that news Cy. Not to jump the gun, but worst case they remove th thing. I have slight idea what it is like to hear your about to go under the knife to fix your screwed up body. Mine was not as serious as yours must seem to you right now, but let the shock wear off, and get your head around it. It is really not all that bad.

If it helps at all my FIL was about 76 when they found prostate cancer in him. He had the surgery, and besides a little swelling and some slight leakage issues, he was fine. Lived another ten years. Only thing that got him was emphasima from smoking like a chimney for 73 years, combined with burning rod for almost as long.

So, you got plenty of long years to bug us....errr....contribute to this forum and care for the ones you love ahead of you! Let us know if there is anything we can do to help out.

Hope everything turns out ok for you cy. I just went in this morning for a physical and my psa checked out normal and prostrate is normal. I'm a big guy at 51, 5'11" 300 lbs. my bp is right on the money 120/80 and my blood work came back all normal. My doctor told me whatever I'm doing keep doing it and to loose some weight and quit smoking before the problems start showing up. I'm a firm believer in fish oil pills and CoQ10. I just had my 3rd cholonoscopy back in December and it turned out ok. I'm very thankful for my good health so far because of the abuse I inflicted on my body with drugs & alcohol in the past.

Man, that fish oil is some potent and nasty stuff. I drank that stuff twice a day for two weeks. After that much time with it, every thing slides whether you want it to or not.

You were taking the liquid??? They have out on the market now the capsuls that are tasteless and oderless. I've heard krill oil is the best but it's expensive. I just stick with the omega 3 & 6 fish oil. A few years back when the Today Show did the entire show on cardiovascular health, they had the leading heart specialist in the country on. At the ending of the program he told the viewers, "If you don't remember anything I have said all through this program, remember to take fish oil daily." He said so many lives could be saved each year from heart attacks if people only did that one thing. I lost 3 buddies already this year, my age, from heart attacks. That's what prompted me to get blood work done and a physical.

Warranty, what warranty!?

Note to self, don't post colonoscopy pics. Hey CY, my father in law had high PSA readings for years, like about 20. Finally passed away in Jan. at 84. If your insurance allows it get a second opinion, your happy place is too important to risk! My brother in law jumped the gun, i think, and had his taken out. I'm not sure he or my sister are happy about his decision, but he is alive and still annoying me. That's ok, he lets me deer hunt behind his house, so it's worth it. I should go get my physical, wife keps bugging me, but they keep finding stuff when they look. Why tempt fate!? By the way, where can I find this warranty stuff, I must have misplaced mine.

The warranty usually expires at 35 years, it just takes longer for some of us to notice, that's all.

Me, I've got the big six-oh coming in a few days (where the hell did the time go??!!), but the wheels have been falling off the bus for years now. But I feel I've been relatively 'lucky', as it hasn't been any illnesses but I've been under the knife for 'repairs' too many times for 'worn-out' bits.

Warranty?

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones with an extended warranty. Every time I go for the yearly check up and tests my Dr. tells me I'm bullet proof. I'll be 70 soon.
