We got there quite a few hours before the show. The parking lot was one big tailgate party. We got in when the doors opened quite a few hours before the show. I think that is when this picture was taken but I remember being right up front in center until after the show started the push forward picked everybody up off their feet and it was like being a wave tossed in the sea. You just went where everybody else went. People were passing out everywhere and being carried over shoulders to the front of the stage and tossed over the wall like ragdolls. They played for 3hrs straight, no warmup band. When the acoustic set started and things settled down a little bit, I got off the floor and went into the upper decks. I'll never forget that concert. Largest indoor concert at the time. Something like 100,000 there for Led Zep.

Billy Joel's, "Allentown" hits home with me. Especially the part that says,"every child had a pretty good shot, to get at least as far as his old man got." Three Dog Night's "Out in the Country" is another one.

I don't know that I have a favorite song, but (probably an age indicator) I am going to Seattle this weekend to see my favorite band, Tool. But, don't get me wrong LOVE my classic rock. The really sad part for me, is that the classic rock stations are starting to play more and more songs from MY time . I think that means, OFFICIALLY, that I am starting to get old.

I have the same problem! When I first moved to St. Louis in 2000, there was one station that played "my music" - '50s and '60s stuff, with a little '70s thrown in now and then. In the last 10 years, they've moved up 2 full decades, and are now playing primarily '80s stuff! I miss my doo-wop and folk music...

                  CCR...very good music.

Yeah, I dod notice that the "classic rock" stations now play what I remember coming out when I was in college!! Kind of goes along with mentioning the time period when you had to have a credit card to cash a check, and you get the glossy blank stare!!

The classic rock stations around here all started playing disco so I bought an MP3 player. I scrounged a computer together for my workshop and it has my favorite MP3's on it and wireless internet to stream movies.

I guess the classic rock stations don't need me listening to their adds. I must now be out of their demographic...

Favorite song... hmmm, that's a tough one, as it changes with my mood. I have pretty wide tastes in rock/blues (country leaves me cold) spanning a lot of years. Most anything by the Dead, pre-Joker Steve Miller Band, Fleetwood Mac (before there was any chicks in the group), Spirit (the '12 Dreams of Dr Sardonicus' is one of the greatest albums ever), the list goes on.

FM radio pretty much sucks these days, as they all have their 'favorites' that they play to death and you just don't hear any variety any more.

I'll be a smart-a$$ and suggest a 'theme song' for the 'other' XS11 group.... side one, track three off of Frank Zappa's 'Sheik Yerbouti'

Lotta people don't know that Fleetwood Mac was a pretty darn good Blues band before they made it in the pop/rock world.

I am a big blues fan...favorite song changes with my mood...but I always like "Blue on Black" by Kenny Wayne Shepherd...or anything by Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Interesting factoids: Carlos Santana's signature song 'Black Magic Woman' was written by Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green. And when Santana (the group) broke up, most of the former members went on to found Journey...

Frank is a bit of an acquired taste, but yeah, he did some great tunes. 'Cosmic Debris' (off the same album as 'snow') is a personal fav, but he's not somebody that you can generally listen to casually. 'Flakes' (off 'Sheik'; my unofficial, personal theme for SWMBO's california relatives), anything off 'Live at the Fillmore', 'It can't Happen Here', 'Brown Shoes', the list goes on. But you need to be in the mood....

I used to have a Zappa album many moons ago, not sure if it was a bootleg or not, but was just Frank belting out some of the most amazing guitar work you could imagine, on the barking pumpkin label !!

Cover of the album was Frank sitting down with a smoke and the most beautiful black Les Paul deluxe I have ever seen.

The guy was a musical genius !! Again like so many others, taken way to early ( Jimmy Hendrix, SRV, Keith Moon, John Bonham etc )
